붓으로 이어온 10년의 시간, ‘몽당연필 10주년 기념전’ 개최

서예와 캘리그래피를 통해 예술적 교류를 이어온 ‘몽당연필’이 창립 10주년을 맞아 기념 전시회를 개최한다.

이번 전시는 오는 4월 21일부터 26일까지 대전 중구에 위치한 대전예술가의 집 3층에서 열리며, 21일 오후 4시 오프닝 행사를 시작으로 본격적인 막을 올린다.

‘몽당연필 10주년 기념전’은 지난 10년간 붓을 매개로 이어온 인연과 창작의 시간을 되돌아보는 자리다. 단순한 작품 전시를 넘어, 회원 각자의 삶과 사유, 그리고 예술적 열정이 응축된 결과물을 선보인다. 전통 서예와 현대 캘리그래피의 경계를 넘나들며 쌓아온 시간의 깊이를 한자리에서 확인할 수 있다.

이번 전시에는 강수자, 김민영, 김성순, 김향수, 변석영, 손예림, 송승우, 신재순, 양을리, 유경자, 윤명옥, 이소정, 장노규, 정순덕, 정호식, 조인숙, 조선녀, 진은경, 최윤정, 한영순, 홍원화, 황은영 등 다수의 회원들이 참여해 다양한 작품 세계를 펼친다. 각기 다른 필체와 감성이 어우러져 풍성한 전시를 구성한다.

몽당연필은 2017년 창립전을 시작으로 매년 정기전을 이어오며 ‘인문학과 서예의 만남’, ‘자유전’, ‘생각전’, ‘사제동행전’ 등 다양한 주제를 통해 예술적 확장을 시도해왔다.

특히 전통의 뿌리를 기반으로 하면서도 시대적 감각을 반영한 작품 활동으로 지역 문화예술계에서 꾸준한 주목을 받아왔다.

몽화 양영 회장은 인사말을 통해 “이번 전시는 지난 시간을 돌아보는 동시에 새로운 시작을 알리는 자리”라며 “앞으로도 전통을 기반으로 한 창작을 통해 더 많은 이들과 예술의 가치를 나누고 싶다”고 밝혔다.

이번 전시는 시민 누구나 무료로 관람할 수 있으며, 서예와 캘리그래피가 전하는 깊은 울림과 따뜻한 감성을 경험할 수 있는 기회가 될 것으로 기대된다.

A Decade in Ink: “Mongdangyeonpil 10th Anniversary Exhibition” Opens in Daejeon

The calligraphy and lettering group Mongdangyeonpil marks its 10th anniversary with a commemorative exhibition, celebrating a decade of artistic exchange through brush and ink. The exhibition will be held from April 21 to 26 at the Daejeon Artists’ House (3rd floor) in Jung-gu, Daejeon, with an opening ceremony scheduled for April 21 at 4 p.m.

This special exhibition reflects on ten years of creative practice and shared connections formed through the medium of the brush. More than a simple display of artworks, it presents the accumulated time, thoughts, and artistic passion of its members. Visitors will be able to experience the depth achieved by crossing the boundaries between traditional calligraphy and contemporary lettering art.

Participating artists include Kang Su-ja, Kim Min-young, Kim Seong-sun, Kim Hyang-su, Byun Seok-young, Son Ye-rim, Song Seung-woo, Shin Jae-sun, Yang Eul-ri, Yoo Kyung-ja, Yoon Myung-ok, Lee So-jung, Jang No-gyu, Jung Soon-deok, Jung Ho-sik, Jo In-sook, Jo Seon-nyeo, Jin Eun-kyung, Choi Yoon-jung, Han Young-soon, Hong Won-hwa, and Hwang Eun-young. Each artist contributes a unique style and sensibility, creating a rich and diverse exhibition.

Since its inaugural exhibition in 2017, Mongdangyeonpil has continued to present annual shows under various themes such as “The Meeting of Humanities and Calligraphy,” “Freedom,” “Thought,” and “Mentor-Student Collaboration,” exploring new artistic possibilities. Rooted in tradition while embracing contemporary sensibilities, the group has steadily gained recognition in the local cultural arts scene.

Yang Young, head of the group, stated in her opening message, “This exhibition is not only a reflection on the past but also a new beginning. We hope to continue sharing the value of art with more people through creative work grounded in tradition.”

The exhibition is open to the public free of charge and offers an opportunity to experience the profound resonance and warmth conveyed through calligraphy and lettering art.
